Hamadan is a city going back three thousand years blended with the modern society, amazing natural beauties.
This Iranian province is filled with rivers, natural spring waters, ski resorts, and many historical sites.
Shall we start by introducing some of these must see places.
The Gamasiab River:
which is one of the longest running river in Iran.
Hamadan province encompasses 19 thousand square kilometers.
The neighboring provinces are
To the North Zanjan, to the east Central Province, to the South is Lorestan, and to the west is Kermanshah, and Kurdistan.
Major cities are
Hamadan city, Malayer ,Tooseerkan, Nahavand, Kabdaraahang, Asadabad, Saman, Sarkan, Lalijeen, ana Maryeanj.
Hamadan is believed to be among the oldest Iranian cities.
It is possible that it was occupied by the Assyrians in 1100 BCE; the Ancient Greek historian, Herodotus, states that it was the capital of the Medes, around 700 BCE.
Alvand Mountain
Hamedan has a green mountainous area in the foothills of the 3,574-meter Alvand Mountain, in the Midwest part of Iran.
The city is 1,850 meters above sea level.
The special nature of this old city and its historic sites attract tourists during the summer to this city, located approximately 360 kilometers (220 miles) southwest of Tehran.

The major sights of this city are the GanjNameh inscription, the Avicenna monument and the Baba Taher monument/
The majority of the population is Persian; however, there is a considerable Azerbaijani minority.
Hamadan tourist’s attractions area:
Two of the old neighborhoods, Ghashogh Trashan, and Hakeemkhaneh which attract thousands visitors every year.
Other natural attractions are, Ganjnameh waterfalls, Gharehchaei River, Alisadr Cave, Hezen Cave, Zena Valley, and Hell Valley.

Alisadr Cave
Alisadr Cave is one of the longest water Cave in the world.
The entrance to the Alisadr Cave is through a canoe ride which takes few hours for the whole ride.
During your ride you will see many picturesque design which was created over time through natural sedimentation process which you will not forget.
The temperature inside the Cave is around 20C.
The lake water inside the cave is so clear that you can see objects 10 meter deep with the naked eye.
The Alisadr Cave is located 75 kilometers Northwest of Hamadan.

The Stone Lion
The stone lion of Hamadan is a historical monument in Hamadan, Iran.
The stone lion – one part of the ‘Lions’ Gate’ – sits on a hill where a Parthian-era cemetery is said to have been located.
When first built, this statue had a twin counterpart for which they both constituted the old gate of the city.
During the Islamic conquest of Persia, the victorious Arabs referred to the gate as bâb ul-asad.

The historical Toyserkan Bazar which is the oldest indoor Bazar in the province.
Hamadan’s are famous for their handy crafts, ceramics, and leather goods.
Do not forget to taste some of the delicious local foods. Hamadan is famous for its Barley soup, eggplant soup.
